Before the Holiday Wave Hits …
Before the holiday wave really picks up, I wanted to send you a quick note — not with more to do, but with a reminder that can make the rest of this month feel noticeably lighter.
December has a way of accelerating.
One minute we’re pulling out the wrapping paper… the next minute it’s suddenly January.
And in that rush, it’s so easy to lose sight of the one thing that makes everything else feel better:
your foundation.
You don’t need to overhaul anything right now. You don’t need a plan, a resolution, or a reset.
What you do need is a simple, steady base — a way to feel anchored while the pace around you picks up.
Your foundation is simply the way you support yourself — physically, mentally, emotionally — so you can move through life with steadiness rather than strain.
It’s not perfect habits or rigid routines.
It’s the small things that help you feel grounded, clear, and well.
For me, that base always comes back to what I call the 7 Roots of Healthy Aging.
Not habits.
Not hacks.
Just the core areas that quietly shape how we feel every single day: mindset, sleep, movement, nourishment, stress, connection, and low-tox living.
When these roots are even slightly supported, the whole body shifts.
Energy steadies. Cravings soften. Overwhelm shrinks. You feel more… you.
And because December is hectic, I just want to say this out loud:
I’m a total sucker for all the sappy, romantic, lighthearted holiday movies that drop this time of year… but there is zero chance I’m sitting down for two uninterrupted hours to watch one right now.
So here’s what I do: I watch them in segments during my workouts.
A 30-minute walk on the treadmill…
A quick strength session…
And suddenly I’ve squeezed in movement and a happy little dose of holiday spirit.
It makes me look forward to the workout more — and it’s one tiny way I keep myself grounded, energized, and joyful during a really full month.
So before the month sweeps you away, here’s a tiny reflection I love to do:
✨ A 3-minute pause for your future self ✨
Set a timer for 3 minutes and ask yourself:
How do I want to feel on January 15?
Not January 1.
Not “New Year, New You.”
January 15 — when real life is back, routines return, and the world is settling again.
Do you want to feel energized?
More rested?
Lighter?
Stronger?
Less inflamed?
More clear-headed?
More in control?
Whatever came up — that’s your foundation.
And supporting it doesn’t require perfection.
Just awareness… and a few tiny choices this month that keep you aligned with how you actually want to feel.
How to hold onto that feeling through December …
The best way to hold onto the feeling you want in January is simply to notice it whenever it shows up this month — even for a moment.
A spark of energy.
A deeper breath.
A minute of calm.
A choice that feels good in your body.
A moment where you pause instead of rush.
You don’t have to track it or push for it.
Just recognize it when it appears.
That tiny awareness alone quietly builds the pathway to January – and to the version of you you’re already becoming.
If you want more structure for this… here are a few gentle supports: (Choose one; keep December simple.)
If you want to feel …
More energized: 10-minute walk after one meal
More rested: go to bed 15 minutes earlier.
Lighter: add one big-color meal each day.
Stronger: two 10-minute “strength snacks” this week.
Calmer: pause for 3 deep breaths before your next task.
Clearer: try a 2-minute morning brain dump.
More connected: send one intentional text today.
Nothing dramatic — just small supports for the feeling you want to grow.
If you’re looking for more structure and support as we head into the new year, the next cohort of RECLAIM begins in January.
